Photo Galleries of Havana Bay and Military Fortresses

Havana Bay, one of the largest and safest bays in America, has a pouch which gives security vessels welcomes, has a strategic position both geographically and economically. The port of Havana is the largest in Cuba and during the colonial period was one of the strategic centers for Spain, which is why the bay is protected by a network of major fortifications, including the Castillo de la Real Fuerza , Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro, Castillo de la Punta, the Fortress of San Carlos de la Cabaña, Atarés castle and other defenses dedicated to the protection of the harbor and city. One of the distinctive features associated with beacon bay is located in the El Morro fort, which was built in the eighteenth century, and currently works with an original optical mechanism from France, including the system of checks and levers for operation with an electric lighting system, (only significant change made to this work )
