Health Insurance Policy for Traveling to Cuba
Cuba compulsorily requires all travelers, foreigners and Cubans living abroad to enter the country, who have a travel insurance policy with coverage for medical expenses, issued by an insurance agency recognized in Cuba.

That all travelers, foreigners and Cubans living abroad, entering the country from 1 May 2010, must have travel insurance that covers medical expenses or a policy for medical expenses with coverage in Cuba.
The traveler arriving in the country is under control shall present a policy, insurance certificate or traveling assistance card, valid during your stay in Cuba.
What are the insurance companies recognized in Cuba?
Travel insurance underwritten by Cuban insurance companies and most international insurance companies offer assistance services to travelers within Cuba, the company ASISTUR SA.

How much does travel insurance to travel to Cuba?
Insurance travel to Cuba costs 2.50 or 3.00 CUC per day.
Travelers who wish to participate in sports competitions or high-risk sports (hiking, scuba diving, parachuting, etc.) shall pay, in addition to the regular premium, premium surcharge 2.00 CUC (additional) daily.
Similarly those older than 70 years must pay an extra premium of 2.00 CUC per day.

What is the procedure if they require medical care in Cuba?
There are two (2) options:
1- If the unexpected is not serious.
You must have location data of the agency or company that sold insurance. Contact them, they immediately coordinated with ASISTUR necessary actions, or
You are encouraged to communicate directly with the insured Central Alarm ASISTUR (visiting tourists 24 hours), and follow the instructions provided by the attendants.
2-If the unexpected is severe (with immediate assistance).
You can immediately make themselves at any health center or hospital for urgent assistance. Within 24 hours after the insured or a family member or companion should contact the Control Panel to report on the circumstances of unforeseen and assistance received. The Central Alarm monitor the services provided are adequate, and that the costs correspond to the terms and conditions of the policy taken.
