Environment in Cuba
Cuba possesses a big landscape and ecological diversity and a relative wealth in certain natural resources with regard to the rest of the islands of the region of the Carib. His characteristics are the result of different factors between those who stand out:

The revolutionary government has developed programs directed to the solution or mitigation of the affectations to the environment, such as:

- Program of Saving of Energy
- Program of The Bay of Havana
- Program of reduction of the Contamination
- Programs of production cleaner
- Programs for the Conservation and Rehabilitation of the Soils
- Plan of Action for the Conservation of the Biological Diversity
In June, 1997 the Law is approved by the National Assembly of the Popular one # 81 of the Environment that deroga the Law # 33 and the Decree - Law # 118 / 90. This law consists with a whole of 163 articles, in the same one several fundamental targets appear, as of promoting the civil participation in the protection of the environment and the sustainable development, developing the civil conscience concerning the problems of the environment, integrating the education, the publication and the environmental information and to propitiate the care to the human health, the elevation of the quality of life and the improvement of the environment in general.
Creation of the Department of Science Technology and Environment (CITMA) in 1994, which directs all the politics that on the environment is generated in the country.
