The Province of Cienfuegos was founded on April 22, 1819 by French colonists near to the bay of Jagua, it is the youngest of the provincial capitals of the Cuban archipelago. It possesses a surface of 4,178 km ² and a population 386,100, his provincial capital is the city of the same name.
